DMCA for Copyright Breach

I did my weekly rounds today, typing my name into Google and finding more sites out there who have stolen my work and is providing it “for free” to paid members.  With my hard-earned royalties once again finding themselves inside the pockets of thieves, I thought I would look for a web site that provides proper wording for DMCA notices (letters to thieves who steal the work of artists and the pay packet that comes with it).

Please bookmark the following web site, as it is an invaluable source to all writers, musicians, movie makers who are prone to being victims of theft via breach of copyright:

Not only does IP Watchdog keep artists abreast of their rights, but they also advise of what you can do (en masse) when a copyright breach has occurred.

The DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act ) is a United States copyrightlaw that implements two 1996 treaties of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). It criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures (commonly known as digital rights management or DRM) that control access to copyrighted works.

BestBookLibrary are one of the worst offenders of breach of copyright.  If you find your work on their site, you will notice that their email address is near impossible to find.  Please send all DMCA notices for their breaches to dmca@bestbooklibrary.com to have your work removed from their site.

In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (the text of which may be found on the U.S. Copyright Office website at http://lcweb.loc.gov/copyright/), bestbooklibrary will respond expeditiously to claims of copyright infringement that are reported to bestbooklibrary’s designated copyright agent.

The Blog Herald’s article of 4th June, 2007, found at http://www.blogherald.com/2007/06/04/how-to-write-an-effective-dmca-notice/ is another excellent resource in creating an effective DMCA.

NOTE TO COPYRIGHT OWNERS:  If you would like a DMCA to be generated for you automatically, might I suggest that you visit the DMCA Generator online, located at http://www.whoishostingthis.com/resources/dmca/.

I wish you all the best in crushing the digital pick-pockets and thieves who are so inept that they haven’t a clue how to find something LEGAL to do for a living.
